Job Description

Due to our tremendous growth, Akamai is looking for driven, smart and experienced Inside Sales Representatives to join our fun and fast paced new customer acquisition team. Our sales organization offers the unique culture of a “startup” feel with the actual security of proven success.

As an Inside Sales Representative (ISR), you will be responsible for successfully driving new customer sales over the phone, owning the sales cycle from end to end and collaborating with our Field Sales organization on strategic opportunities. Responsibilities include generating new business through prospecting with outbound calling, email, inbound inquiries and marketing events. The ISR will be responsible for articulating the Akamai value proposition, generating interest and enthusiasm for Akamai’s solutions in the market.


Proactively generate and close new business consistently at or above quota, through outbound and qualified inbound leads

Become an expert in the web performance and cloud security markets

Serve as the customers trusted advisor for Akamai’s suite of products and solutions

Own territory planning, pipeline and prospect research to match Akamai solutions

Build relationships with prospects and internal stake holders to grow new business

Support and build customer engagement through internal industry or solution specific marketing campaigns and events

Partner with the vertical field sales team to develop industry expertise and collaborate on appropriate opportunities

Share your unique drive for success and strategic ideas with our culture of learning and growth

Basic Qualifications

BA/BS Degree or equivalent related experience

2+ years of experience in an inside sales role, prospecting role, or customer facing role

Desired Qualifications

Proven experience of being persuasive, influential and professional on the phone, social media and email

Proven consultative sales skills and quota achievement

Experience with accurate forecasting and pipeline management

The ability and drive to meet daily, weekly and monthly metrics and activities to achieve success

Proven experience of being persuasive, influential and professional on the phone, social media and email

Internal drive for personal and team achievement

Strong work ethic

Self-confident communicator comfortable speaking with Director Level and C-Level contacts

Strong skills in identifying opportunities.

Experience and understanding of the Internet and related services
