The primary purpose of this position is to accomplish technical support work and advisory functions, and to develop, implement, and coordinate activities designed to ensure, protect, and restore infrastructure systems, services, and capabilities.

Responsibilities

As an IT Specialist (INFOSEC) you will: 

Provide expert technical support and assistance to CDC staff IT in developing, implementing and coordinating security activities to ensure, protect and restore IT systems, service and capabilities.

Monitor and evaluate infrastructure systems compliance with IT security requirements as determined by CDC, HHS and other government guidance and regulations.

Provide advice and guidance in implementing IT security policies and procedures in the development of operations of network systems, telecommunications systems, wireless (WiFi) integration and security, personal computing, video-conferencing, infrastructure software, and server support.

Ensure proper protection of evidence used in investigating computer crimes.

Evaluate and recommend the acquisition of, implementation of and dissemination of IT security tools, procedures and practices to protect information assets.

Recommend new or revised security measures and countermeasures based on the results of accreditation reviews.

Coordinate with Infrastructure Emergency Preparedness Activity to update contingency or disaster recovery or disaster plans.

Qualifications

Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-12 in the Federal service as defined in the next paragraph. 



Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position to include experience with federal IT Security Certification and Accreditation processes, security risk assessments, implementation of IT security controls and countermeasures, and IT network and endpoint monitoring technologies used in a advanced engineering of Citrix virtual desktop infrastructure server farms and associated technologies in a large Microsoft Windows enterprise. Applicants must also have IT related experience demonstrating the following competencies: Attention to Detail, Customer Service, Oral Communication, and Problem Solving. 

1. Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail. 

2. Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services. 

3. Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attend to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately. 

4. Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and make recommendations.
